Coral Divers is a PADI 5 star Gold Palm IDC Center situated in Sodwana Bay, South Africa. Lying within the boundaries of The Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, Sodwana Bay provides the traveling diver with a vast array of unspoilt coral reefs, populated with a huge diversity of Indo-Pacific fish & invertebrates. We are proud to be able to provide all levels of PADI scuba instruction (check our course rates) from Bubble Maker, to Instructor Development courses, as well as accommodation and dive charters. accommodation is scattered around a large communal area where everyone gathers after the days diving. Enjoy a couple of drinks and snacks (burgers, toasted sandwiches etc.) from our well stocked bar while soaking up the suns rays around the pool. Everyone can enjoy listening to diving tales from freshly qualified Open Water divers and seasoned veterans. Coral Divers is able to provide you with a range of different accommodation types from Safari Tents to Ensuite Cabins. We're sure you'll find something to suit you. In addition to our well stocked bar and bar menu (toasted sandwiches, burgers, etc.) Coral Divers can provide you with an excellent catering service for the duration of your stay. This means you can just sit back and enjoy the back-to-nature experience while our home cooked meals recharge your batteries. Breakfast consists of a buffet including a full English breakfast (eggs, toast, sausages etc.), cereals, fruit, yoghurt, fruit juice & coffee. Supper time sees a 3 course home cooked meal with a different menu every night. Our dinner bed and breakfast rates are excellent value. The menu changes every day and Steve and the kitchen staff will make sure you enjoy your meal. We can cater for vegetarians by prior arrangement. You are required to bring along your own linen. The tents all have permanent roofs for protection from the rain and sun. These will be your most cost effective option. The safari tents use the KZN Wildlife Ablutions and these bathrooms offer toilets, hot water showers and even bathtubs in the ladies (bring your own plugs). They are cleaned daily by the KZN wildlife staff. Standard Huts (with optional private bathroom) The standard cabins use the KZN Wildlife Ablutions and these bathrooms offer toilets, hot water showers and even bathtubs in the ladies (bring your own plugs). They are cleaned daily by the KZN wildlife staff. The Standard Cabins with private bathrooms have a toilet, basin and open air shower attached to the back of the cabin. En-Suite Huts Accommodation for the discerning diver. These beautiful new huts are substantially larger with an ensuite toilet, basin and open air shower Cabins All cabins have linen provided (Sheets, Pillows, Duvets and Mosquito Nets.) Cabins with bathrooms have a toilet, basin and open air shower. All cabins have electricity however only a selection of cabins has plug points.

DIVING

Much of the excitement can come from our surf launches. We launch our boats daily (excluding the 1st January) and the service is offered to any qualified diver. Our experienced skippers will take you to and from all the most popular dive sites in Sodwana Bay. If on the other hand you'd prefer to prepare your own meals we will allocate you your own fridge in our kitchen, which has gas stoves, pots, pans, cutlery and crockery to allow you to prepare your food. We also provide outdoor braai facilities in our Zulu boma. Sea Paddling Experience an active, fun filled afternoon paddling in the bay in stable easy to master sit-on kayaks. We invite you to join us in our two man kayaks and have an adventure with a difference. This is offered free for Coral Guests and dependant on favourable sea conditions. Body Boarding & Body Surfing If you enjoy action adventure then this is for you! This takes place in the protected north beach area. Whether you prefer body boarding or bodysurfing, you are bound to have an enjoyable time in these warm waters. This is offered for free for Coral guests. Volley Ball / Soccer / Touch Rugby Still feeling energetic? Join us in the afternoons for beach volleyball, beach soccer or touch rugby on the soft sands of The Bay. Inter-team challenges will be arranged for the more competitive. Catch a lift down on our courtesy shuttle and come lounge on the beach if supporting is more your thing. This is offered for free for Coral guests.

Local Tours to Lake Mgoboseleni Take a breather after a long day with a drink and a panoramic view over Lake Mgoboseleni and the lighthouse. This setting is well known for pastel sunsets over the evergreen dune forests. Experience the majestic tranquillity of Mgoboseleni. There is a cost of R80 per person & a minimum of 3 people. Plan for 2 hours. Local Tours to Lake Sibaya Enjoy sundowners at Lake Sibaya, the biggest fresh water lake in South Africa. Share your experience with the charming inhabitants of the lake such as hippo and the elegant Goliath Heron. This natural wonder is one of the best secrets of Zululand and will enchant you with its unspoilt slender. There is a cost of R180 per person & a minimum of 3 people going for 3 hours. Muzi Pan Drives & Muzi Pan Canoe Adventures Lose yourself in a canoeing experience that will rival any done before. A peaceful African setting across the Muzi pan which plays host to an abundance of water birds such as Fish Eagles, Pelicans and Flamingos. Hippos and Crocodiles can also be found. The rare Pygmy Goose occasionally makes an appearance in front of a backdrop of fever trees, which the knowledgeable local guides are normally able to successfully locate. There is a cost of R280 per person with a minimum of 3 people doing the canoe adventure or R180 per person doing the drive. The duration of the trip is from 2 to 5 hours.

Become familiar with the much-hidden lifestyle of the Zulu and get the chance to interact with this dramatic culture. This tour is a charter costing R1800 for the vehicle with a maximum allowance of 6 people per vehicle. The duration of the trip is from 3 to 4 hours. Mabibi Mabibi is a spectacular beach spot renowned for its great snorkelling opportunities & untouched isolated beauty. It is located north of Sodwana Bay, along side Lake Sibaya. This tour is a charter costing R1800 for the vehicle with a maximum allowance of 6 people per vehicle. The duration of the trip is half a day & there is also an entrance fee of R25. Hluhluwe Game Reserve Home to the big 5, Hluhluwe Mfolozi National Park is one of Southern Africa’s oldest wildlife Parks. It is found in the central area of the Elephant Coast which is famous for wildlife. Game is at capacity in most of this area offering the opportunity to get close to some of Africa’s big game. This tour is a charter costing R2100 for the vehicle with a maximum allowance of 6 people per vehicle. The duration of the trip is half a day & there is also an entrance fee to enter the Park. Tembe Elephant Park For bush enthusiasts, Thembe Elephant Park provides a unique big 5 experience, with the recent introduction of lion complementing the animals already resident in the Park. Elephants roamed the area freely as recently as 1981, when the Park was proclaimed. This tour is a charter costing R2100 for the vehicle with a maximum allowance of 6 people per vehicle. The duration of the trip is half a day. Kosi Bay Mouth Kosi Bay, near the Mozambique boarder in the north of the Elephant Coast, has a system of 4 lakes that run parallel to the sea for 18 km – walk through the Raffia Palm forests & enjoy a spectacular day at the mouth. This tour is a charter costing R2450 for the vehicle with a maximum allowance of 6 people per vehicle. The duration of the trip is a full day. THE ABOVE INCLUDE LUNCH & COOL DRINKS Deep Sea Game Fishing Experience the adventure of deep-sea game fishing. An experienced skipper familiar with Sodwana Bay conditions will take you on an ocean adventure in search of trophy fish. Whales, dolphins and turtles are frequent visitors whilst fishing and will keep you enthralled between rounds with some of the most spectacular game fish in the sea. A variety of packages are available from R1500 to R4100 per boat charter. Turtle Walks & Turtle Tours These tours are conducted at night to search for female Loggerhead and Leatherback turtles that have made their way across the ocean to lay on our beaches. They will return to their original nesting sight to lay their cluster of eggs as their ancestors did before them. Organised tours are necessary to view these creatures and in the interest of marine safety and should not be done without an official guide. Walking tours can be arranged at R85 per person with a group discount of R550 for 8 people or more for 3 hours. Turtle tours by vehicle cost R250 per person & are tide dependant. A much larger distance is covered & can take between 4 to 5 hours. Horse Riding There are two trail options that you can choose from. One leads out into the Nature Reserve where you can see zebra, impala and reedbuck and excellent birdlife in its natural environment. The alternative is to take a ride on a protected beach to catch the golden-mirror sunrise over the ocean, an afternoon ride or a night ride when the moon is full. 4 Wheelers Take a 4 wheeler through the beautiful coastal forest to Lake Sibaya. This tour is popular with our adventure seeking guests who enjoy seeing what the surrounding countryside has to offer. The cost is R280 per person for 3 hours or alternatively a shorter 1 hour 4 wheeler ride can de arranged for R140. All Prices are subject to change without prior notice

Facilities

Approved Air filling station Our air fill station is maintained to a very high level, operated by experienced compressor operators and is a short walk from the beach. · Enriched Air/Nitrox Filling We are able to offer Enriched Air fills, upon presentation of proof of Enriched Air Diver certification. The enriched air is available in the two most common mixes, EAN x 32 and EAN x 36. · Free transfers to & from the beach We offer a free service leaving from camp to the beach (±2km), leaving 45min before each dive time. This allows for ample time to kit up and prepare for your dive. · Equipment hire Our equipment is regularly serviced to provide you with problem free diving. We have a large selection of equipment sizes, so you can find something to suit you.

Directions

From Durban: Sodwana Bay and Coral Divers lie approximately 400km north of Durban. Take the N2 North from Durban Take the Hluhluwe turnoff and at the stop sign turn right . Drive for approximately 2,5km and you will reach Hluhluwe town. Go straight over all the traffic circles (4 circles) following the signs to Sodwana Bay. After the last circle you will turn left. Continue along this road until you see the sign for Sodwana Bay. Turn right and go over the railway line. Continue along this road until you see the sign for Sodwana Bay. Turn right and go over the railway line. This 85km stretch of road is tarred all the way to Sodwana Bay. The road will take you to Mbwazwana, where you will need to turn right and follow the signs to Sodwana Bay. Enter through the National Parks Board Gate 1 (you will be required to pay a gate entry fee). At the National Parks Board Gate 2 you will need to inform the guard of your booking at Coral Divers and you will be required to fill in a parks board form. Take this form with you when you check in at Coral Divers. From Johannesburg take the N17 to Leandra From Leandra take the R29 through Bethal, Ermelo, Piet Retief and Pongola Approximately 29 km after Pongola, you join the N2 Go SOUTH on the N2, past Mkuze and continue on until you get to the Hluhluwe turnoff. Take the Hluhluwe turnoff and at the stop sign turn left. Drive for approximately 2,5km and you will reach Hluhluwe town.
