Located in the vibrant North-western suburbs of Johannesburg, South Africa, Amakoekoe Guesthouse offers visitors a taste of local hospitality and warmth.

We invite you to browse our website and are proud to announce that we received an official four-star grading from the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa. We have also received a "Superior" classification by the AA Quality Assured Programme, and we were finalists in the 2004 AA Accommodation Awards.

Our  conference facilities are completed, and we are now extending our professional services into functions and conferences.

About Us
Amakoekoe Guest House / Lodge is located in Honeydew, where owners André and Sanet Koekemoer officially opened the guest house in August 2002, naming it "Amakoekoe" as an amusing play on their surname “Koekemoer" interpreted as "ama" meaning "the" and "koekoe" as an abbreviation of "Koekemoer".

Amakoekoe Guesthouse is surrounded by carefully maintained, vibrant gardens. In this tranquil paradise, indigenous bird life is abundant, and the unrivalled hospitality makes every stay an unforgettable experience. The guest house has a distinctly African elegance and is decorated throughout with breathtaking hand-crafted works of art.

The unique character and welcoming ambiance at Amakoekoe offers comfort, charm, and convenience to all guests, both local and international.

 Accommodation

Spacious ground & first floor units are available in varying sizes.
These units are serviced daily and consist of:

Two (2) Unit A: Executive Units:

These units are air-conditioned open-plan with a king size bed, en-suite bathroom (bath and shower) or spa-bath and shower(, fully equipped kitchenette (including a bar fridge & microwave oven), 42" LCD television, writing desk, telephone, wireless internet access.

Ten (10) Unit B: Luxury Units:

These units contain a comfortable double – or king size bed, with a fully-equipped kitchenette. As with the executive unit there are ample built-in cupboards. It contains all the same amenities as the executive unit, just a little more compact, e.g. 32" LCD television, writing desk, telephone, wireless internet access, bar fridge, microwave oven, air-conditioning, and an on-suite bathroom containing a bath and or shower. Some of the units with king size beds can be changed into twin beds, if people want to share a room but not a bed.

Standard units (5) Same as luxury units, double bed only.

Our units are spacious, comfortable and homely enough to accommodate the traveller on an extended stay or business trip. Relax and enjoy the view of Johannesburg on your unit’s balcony.

Each unit has been individually decorated with superior quality furnishings & fittings, & unique works of art adorn the walls. Guests can relax on their private balconies and enjoy the breathtaking views of Johannesburg.

Future Developments:

We are currently in the planning stages of improving Amakoekoe and will soon be building an outdoor lapa, curio-shop, small gallery, conference etc. Watch this space!

Breakfast is served in the cheerful, bright dining room overlooking a colourful garden. Whether you desire a light snack or a full cooked breakfast, your hosts will see that your dietary requirements are met. The fresh air and a wholesome meal ensure an excellent start to the day.

Mouth-watering lunches and dinners, and small functions, can be arranged on request.

If the heat gets too much enjoy a swim in our swimming pool, or just stretch out on the lawn.

Amakoekoe offers a convenient airport transfer and shuttle service (not included in the rates). To make your stay more pleasant, the staff at Amakoekoe will happily assist you in planning day tours and evening excursions to the many places of interest in and around Johannesburg.
