MADIKELA (Place of the setting sun) is situated on alimestone plateau, which was formed millions of years ago. This limestone, which rests on a granite base, has in time erode Thabazimbi, which lends it to being themost comfortable bush climtheirate in the Northern Province. The Melkrivier Wilderness enjoys world wide recognition and is approved by UNESCO - the United Nations Education, Science and Cultural Organisation - and has been proclaimed a BiosphereReserve, protected by law. Accommodation Chalets Six privately situated chalets are fully equipped to provide accommodation for up to six persons each. Each chalet has 2 bedrooms with double and single beds.Only bed linen is supplied. Guests are requested to please provide their own towels and personal toiletries. Each chalet has a braai boma with chairs and potjies. Braai wood can be purchased at the reception. Bush Camp Six privately situated chalets are fully equipped to provide accommodation for up to six persons each. Each chalet has 2 bedrooms with double and single beds.Only bed linen is supplied. AttractionsMELKRIVIER WILDERNESS 4 x 4 TRAIL Probably the most exciting and sceninc 4 x 4 trail in the Waterberg Mountain range. For the past 19 months, this trail has been used byinstructors to train 4 x 4 enthusiasts. We have now, on public demand, decided to open these trails to the general 4 x 4 public. The trail runs along the entire Blokland River and Melkrivier Escarpment, with spectacular views over the Blokland basin and the vast Lapalala Wilderness. These trails vary from moderate to very difficult. We only allow experienced drivers to attempt the 'red' routes solo.However, recovery vehicles are always on standby. The route runs through 3 farms, totalling 9 500 ha with the shortest trail being 65 km long and taking on average 7/8 hours to complete, depending on the number of vehicles in convoy and the drivers' experience. (Not to forget the lunch stop! to moderate game viewing routes are also laid out, with scenic areas for the less experienced solo drivers. We also arrange convoy drives, this is a great way to meet new 4 x 4 friends and to collect valuable knowledge and tips. On request we arrange catering, bush breakfasts, lunches and picnic baskets for a minimum of 6 people. FacilitiesFacilities Our Conference Room seats up to 20 persons in an informal bush setting. Catering for groups can be arranged on request. A games room with a pool table and table tennis facilities are located nearby.The Jungle Gym as well as an 18 hole mini golf courseare available for the young ones to enjoy. Our facilities include a large and baby pool situated in the main garden which is totally enclosed.
